2009 DIVERSITY AWARDS GLITZ AND GLAMOUR GEAR UP AS NEW AND SEASONED TALENT CONVERGE TO TAKE 17th ANNUAL AWARDS FEST BACK TO BEL-AIR!

BEL-AIR, CA,…. Having cultivated a reputation as the exciting “go to” event of the Hollywood awards show season, the show that brings awards show glitz and glamour “with a purpose,” is gearing up for its seventeenth annual awards event encompassing an international attraction to its global fans, while returning for the first time in 5 years, to it’s Beverly Hills roots. The awards show will again this year be held at the fabulous Luxe Hotel Bel-Air, Sunset Balloroom known for its glamorous red carpet and its sea of Bungalows and world-class history in the Hollywood community and beyond, which the international entertainment crowd who descend Los Angeles during this kudosfest have come to anticipate and become fans of through previous international syndication.

The Diversity Awards has long been considered in a class by itself as one of Hollywood’s most anticipated annual awards events, known for its spontaneity and embrace of the international creative community. Now as more stateside entertainment interests and perspectives go global, the awards show is poised to continue its role in international entertainment, as more international celebs and media outlets vie for a coveted spot on the 2009 Diversity Awards carpet and stage 6PM.

According to Diversity Awards President and Southern California Motion Picture Council Board Member Jarvee E. Hutcherson, “This show as one of the favored entertainment vehicles in our town and as a vehicle bringing stars together from around the globe, is pleased to be making its return to Bel-Air after many years away, and will continue to be a crowd-pleaser filled with top name musical talent and motion picture and television stars. That, combined with its message of diversity and inclusion throughout the international film community, makes it a great event that international media and overseas talent have come to love and appreciate.”

With this year’s theme “Celebrating Diversity – All the Right Moves, All the Right Talent – One Star at a Time!” the star-studded black tie gala held annually by the MMPA will again present awards for accomplishments and contributions to diverse perspectives and timely issues through leadership that fosters unity and action throughout the international community.

Always in the forefront of carrying the leadership mantle, the Multicultural Motion Picture Association, (MMPA) has several events planned in the coming weeks that continue the message of inclusion and leadership in bringing various voices to the fore. Among those include; its upcoming film panel forum and discussion, featuring various artists, studio executives and political leaders, to discuss the direction of diverse stories, and where things currently stand with relation to the production and outreach of such stories.

The 2009 Diversity Awards will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009, cultivating a continued opportunity of bridging the gap between American cinematic culture and the international film community, many of whom have already been a part of the Diversity Awards. The MMPA, sponsors of the Diversity Awards, is comprised of individuals in the U.S. and international film communities, who share a common commitment to celebrating the diversity of ideas, stories, leadership, perspectives and talent throughout the various communication mediums.

Among the recipients of Diversity Awards in recent years include projects such as; Grey’s Anatomy, the Leonardo DiCaprio documentary 13th Hour, and Hotel Rwanda. As well as artists from Salma Hayek, Vince Vaughn, Oliver Stone and Chris Rock to Dakota Fanning, Idris Elba, Michael Mann and Jackie Chan among others. With awards presentations by Robert DeNiro, Renee Zellweger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sharon Stone and Will Smith to name a few, the evenings are always remembered for their spontaneity and excitement.

With top name musical artists from T.I., Christian Aguilera, Jesse McCartney, Fergie, The Santana Band, Robin Thicke, and The Shop Boyz, to name a few, the show never ceases to delight and wow the crowd with rousing performances throughout the night that bring the crowd to their feet between accolades and awards presentations. “It’s that level of excitement that the show seeks to bring, its that level of excitement that our audience has come to expect. We anticipate this year’s crop of talent and performances will per usual be no exception. That’s the kind of audience enthusiasm that makes this show unique among black tie events” Hutcherson further stated. The Diversity Awards will be taped for a fall 2009 airing.
